We have made this list to be a blend of popular cars as well as some iconic cars of the past which ruled the 80s and 90s. So let’s hop in!
Maruti Suzuki WagonR

Maruti Suzuki is ruling the market in terms of the bestselling cars they produce that rank in the Top 10 list quite often. Due to ample amount of practicality, price to performance ratio, smart features, and one of the best after sales services, this year the company has 5 cars in the top 10 bestselling cars in India list. The Maruti Suzuki WagonR recorded sales figures of 18,656 units in the month of April 2021, becoming the highest sold vehicle in the country. The hatchback is priced between Rs. 4,80,500 to Rs. 6,33,000. The vehicle offers ample of practicality, space and performance for the price. It would be enlivening to
see the WagonR or any other car of the company, the likes of Swift, Alto, Baleno, Vitara Brezza hit the Indian market with electric power version of the current ICE cars. This car will certainly hit the sweet spot in the value for money cars market.
Hyundai Creta

The Hyundai Creta is the bestselling Hyundai car in India. It is the sixth bestselling car in the country in the month of April 2021. The compact mid-size SUV is priced between Rs. 9,99,990 to Rs. 17,67,400. The car offers a blend of everything luxury, space, performance, practicality and looks great with its design aesthetics. Hyundai already has an electric car sitting in the above 20 lakhs segment. Still it will be fun to see the Creta in an all new electric spirit.
Mahindra Thar

Seldom have you found a car that becomes an icon and the Mahindra Thar is exactly that. Launched originally in a very bare bone form 10 years ago and the car has kept evolving since then. It is the cheapest 4x4 SUV in India. The SUV has no competition in the price segment it sits in. It has hunky bumpers elongated wheel arches which says that it is a butch off-road SUV. It will be overwhelming to see this mighty car in an electric version which might as well have more power and instant torque on offer.
Premier Padmini

The Padmini was manufactured by Premier Automobiles. It was named after a 14th century Rajput Princess “Padmini”. The car was a style icon of the past in India, from film stars to politicians, to bureaucrats and businessmen, all desired to own one. The company had started off the manufacturing from 1976 to 2000. Some cars never go out of style. When you see it, it brings a feeling of nostalgia. The car barely had one competitor; The Hindustan Motors Ambassador. This car has a special place in the hearts of lot of the masses in the country and would really love it if the car ever re launches in the Indian market. But it’s nearly impossible to come as it came 45 years back, it definitely needs some massive makeover. So why not make it an electric. Hence we would love to see this nostalgic iconic of car to hit the Indian shores in an all-electric avatar. It would be so cool!
HM Ambassador

Nowadays cars be in production for 7 to 10 years but this car was in production for 56 years! Hindustan Motors had discontinued the production of the good old Ambassador in 2014. The car had 3 versions which were the Landmaster, the Mark 1 and the Mark 2. We tend to get nostalgic of the passing of a thing or a person. This car was a worthy and mighty competitor to the Padmini. Well like the Padmini, this car was also loved by the masses, a bitter sweet yearning for a lot of people in the country. Hence we would love to see the Amby come to us in an all new avatar, how about an electric! That will be magnificent.
HM Contessa

The luxury limousine of India. Hindustan Motors had started production of this luxury car
in 1984 and later in 2002 discontinued the production of the car. A lot of
people at that time adored the car a lot. Everyone wished to own one. It used
to be a luxury car of that era. Hence, people still have a sense of nostalgia
for this iconic car. So even if an electric version of this car lands up from
somewhere it will be phenomenal.
Tata Sierra

There used to be less cars in the past as people didn’t have greater purchasing power. Finding an SUV that can go off-roading, well was like looking for a needle in the haystack. There came the Tata Sierra, India’s first off-road SUV. With its big and hunky masculine stance, it caught a lot of attention when it came out in the 90s and was loved by a lot of masses. If the SUV sheds its ICE engine and comes out with an electric heart, it will be spectacular. The company is indeed working on launching the Sierrra in the market again and has also launched prototypes of the car and indeed it looks glorious.
Tata Sumo

Tata Sumo was yet another iconic car bestowed by Tata for the country since the year 1994. Tata had launched this mighty MUV car which was considerably affordable than other counterparts. The car was widely accepted by all at that period. It had a lavish cabin which was plenty for 9 people but 10 could easily squeeze in. It was a wonderful family car. The best for long trips and vacations. The company however has discontinued the car after 25 years. It would be rejuvenating to see this car in an all-electric
version with same or more amounts of practicality it offered back in the day, in its reign, it will definitely put rivals on pins and needles.
